저는 결국 저의 옛 경험을 여려분과 나누고자 합니다.

8년전 공무원으로서 처음으로 보훈청 관리과 신규등록담당으로 발령 받아 바쁜나날을 보내고 1년이 지났을 무렵입니다.
저는 한 공상공무원을 만나게 되었습니다.
그는 서울시 모 구청 청소과 직원으로 관내 청소업무와 관련하여 시내출장중에 그만 상대방차량 운전자의 부주의로 교통사고를 당하여 같이 타고 있던 동료직원 3명이 사망하고  본인은 머리와 팔과 다리에 심한 부상을 입어 언어장애와 한쪽 손과 팔 그리고 한쪽다리를 제대로 쓸수없는 장애자가 되었습니다.  
그후 그는 힘든 몸을 이끌고 제앞에 섰습니다.
저는 평소처럼 국가유공자증서를 드리면서
" 이제 선생님께서는 공상공무원으로서 국가유공자로 등록되셨습니다. " 라고 말하니까,
그는 말을 더듬더듬하면서
" 나 나보다도 … 돌아가신 분들도 계신데 저 저는 이만 한 것이 다다 다행이 아니겠습니까? "하고
증서를 물끄러미 바라보았습니다.
그때 저는 가슴뭉클한 감동을 받았습니다. 정말 내가 진정한 국가유공자를 위해서 일하고 있구나.
그분은 그 자신의 몸보다도 자신의 이웃을 더 사랑하시는 분이셨습니다.

He was the famous patriot in the last period of the Lee dynasty.
I have lived in seoul since I was born. I've worked in office of Patirots & Veterans Welfare for 10 years.
Somday I was taken parts in duties of new Registration, Education and the Fund loaning for our clients.
Well. I wanna share my exprience with you.
It has past two years  since I began to work at the seoul office.
I met one of the public servants who injured on duty.
he was the member of the department of Street Cleanning in some district Goverment.
Oneday when he went out to work by the car with his 3 coworkers very late night.
They had a sudden traffic accident. because of the other side car driver's druken.
On account of that terrible accident, three people died, one of them he was wounded in his head,
one hand and one leg seriously.
He was survived but he is not able to talk , walk and move his right hand and leg.
After a few months, he became to be the man of National Merit, we called Patriot and Veteran,
reconized by goverment. (The Law)
I gave him a piece of certificate of Natonal Merit as usual on my duty. he look that certificate and look around
and said with stammering.
" I was… not a man of … merit.  this is … not … mine. I'm … sorry
… to the dead … men and their … familly. "
At that time. I was impressed with his humbleness I was moved to some tears.
I'd iiked to say Humbieness usually keep our mind warm.
